What Our Customers Say

I messaged asking for a quote to help with an external power socket that had gotten wet. James called me back later that afternoon and said he would be able to fit me in that same day for a very reasonable price, which I agreed to. He was extremely professional - he explained everything about what he was doing, did thorough checks of the entire electrical system, and left everything in a neat and tidy state. He was friendly, approachable and honest. I was very satisfied with the work he carried out, and would absolutely request his services again in the future, should I need to. Highly recommended!

Recommends Parker's Electrical

We had James install and commission our Indra EV charger, and we couldn’t be happier with the service. He was professional, friendly, and arrived on time. The installation was completed to a very high standard, and he took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure the charger was fully commissioned and working perfectly before he left. His workmanship was excellent, everything was neat and tidy, and he left the area spotless afterwards. It’s clear he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about providing a great service. I would highly recommend James to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable electrician, especially for EV charger installations. Thank you for a fantastic job!

James did an EICR and remediation works in my two bed flat, preparing it for a new tenant. He was thorough, very reasonably priced and the work was exceptional. He’s also a really nice bloke and we will use him again. Thanks James! 😃

Recommends Parker's Electrical

I had James come round to fix a loose cable that was cutting off my entire electricity supply. Not only did he arrive within 15 minutes of my call, but it was also at 9pm! Absolutely amazing service. I couldn’t recommend him more. He clearly knows exactly what he’s talking about and, more importantly, how to fix the problem quickly and professionally.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

How much does an electrician cost in Southampton?

We estimate every job as a clear price up front rather than an open-ended hourly rate. Small jobs like extra sockets or a light fitting are priced per visit; larger work such as a consumer unit upgrade or rewire is estimated after a quick look at the property.

Are you qualified and insured?

Yes. All work is carried out to BS 7671 (18th Edition) by a qualified electrician, tested on completion and issued with the appropriate certificate - Minor Works or a full Electrical Installation Certificate.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

We do, across Southampton and the surrounding towns, including evenings and weekends. If you can smell burning or a socket is hot, switch the circuit off at the board and call 07497 378 070.

How quickly can you provide a estimate?

Most estimate requests are answered the same working day. Send the job details through the form and we'll come back with a price or arrange a short site visit if the job needs measuring up.

Can you install an EV charger at my house?

In most cases yes. We check your main fuse, consumer unit and earthing arrangement first, then install a dedicated circuit and commission the charge point with full certification.

How do I know whether my house needs rewiring?

Some signs are hard to miss - a burning or fishy smell near sockets or switches, lights that flicker or dim when you plug something in, and switches or sockets that are cracked, brown or clearly decades old. If your wiring still dates from the 1960s or earlier, or you keep getting small shocks from appliances, it's worth having it looked at. We can do a quick inspection and tell you straight whether a full or partial rewire is needed.

How often should I have an EICR?

For homeowners we recommend an Electrical Installation Condition Report every 10 years, or when you move into a new property. Landlords in England must have a satisfactory EICR at least every 5 years and give tenants a copy - so if you're renting the property out, that shorter interval applies. We issue reports usually within 24 hours, with any remedial work priced separately.

When does my fuseboard or consumer unit need an upgrade?

If your fuseboard still has the old-style rewireable fuses - the fuse carriers themselves are often different colours, or marked with small coloured dots, and every time there's a fault you have to fit a new fuse or wrap fresh fuse wire around the carrier - it's well past time to upgrade. These older boards have no RCD or RCBO protection, so they won't safely cut the power if something goes wrong. We fit modern consumer units with surge protection and individual circuit protection, tested and signed off to the latest standard.

Do you install or connect appliances such as ovens, hobs and cookers?

Yes - we install, connect and certify electric ovens, hobs, cookers and other high-load appliances, including running a dedicated circuit if one isn't there already. We don't touch gas - for gas cookers or hobs you'll need a Gas Safe registered engineer. Electric only, but that's everything from a single oven swap to a full kitchen fit-out.
